Instituto Caórdico de Permacultura

GRACIAS a todos los que han enviado comentarios, propuestas y especialmente a l@s valientes que se han apuntados al grupo de Diseñadores del Instituto.

Empezamos con el grupo en inglés este mes (ver http://permacultureinstitute.pbwiki.com/DesignOfPilot para quien son), esperando que se forme un grupo hispano-hablante para que podríamos empezar con este (por favor ver http://institutodepermacultura.pbwiki.com/DiseñadoresInstituto para más información sobre esto)

Iremos informando de que surge en este grupito de investigación / diseño, y alentamos a todos contribuir como quieren, contactando con cualquiera de ellos directamente. De verdad queremos las ideas y contribuciones de todos para diseñar esto bien.

2) SUBVENCIONES

El primer y pequeño intento a conseguir fondos para adelantar el trabajo necesario para este nuevo tipo de Instituto de Permacultura está en inglés en esta página:

Nos animaron - en España - algunos estudiantes de uno de nuestros cursos de permacultura, que querían multi-functionar un viaje a varios proyectos en la Península Ibérica, y aún que no fuimos seleccionados, la experiencia fue muy útil para resumir el proyecto ... por favor úsalo para hacer algo parecido para vuestras zonas, si podéis.

Enseguida empezamos a recibir ofertas de apoyo e interés de otras personas interesadas en colaborar, como los jóvenes de la Traveling School of Life http://www.tsolife.org/ e Idem (Identity through Initiative) youth: http://www.idem-network.org

Esperábamos con esta iniciativa también de subvencionar el viaje de algunos colegas Cubanos ... será por otra vez. Si tenéis ideas o sugerencias por favor contacta con el grupo Diseñadores.

3) REBOOT FESTIVAL

Fuimos invitados a Portugal para dar un taller de 2 días en Agosto 08, sobre el proyecto del Instituto, por el Reboot Festival, www.rebootnow.org

Esto nos llega como interesante sincronía visto que estuvimos pensando si formar otra parte en portugués del Instituto (por tener algunos miembros activos en Brasil y contactos interesantes en Portugal).

Esperamos que esto ayude impulsar este grupo en otro idioma importante, y esperamos de ver algunos de vosotros ahí en el Festival también.

4) EL DIPLOMA DE DISEÑO EN PERMACULTURA

y dar la bienvenida a nuevas personas en la familia permacultural.

Recuerda que el Instituto Caórdico aporta una serie ideal de proyectos especialmente para estudiantes de permacultura, que alentamos a conocer a nuestra familia internacional de permacultura participando activamente desde el principio.

De hecho el diseño surgió originalmente para facilitar el proceso y abrir a observación general a los estándares del diploma, alentando a los pre-diplomados hacer visible su portafolio usando las nuevas tecnologías de internet.

Empezando con algo MUY pequeño ... y también muy lento, pero seguro:

1) Tenemos una nueva versión sólo en español del piloto de este Instituto: http://institutodepermacultura.pbwiki.com/

PORQUÉ - Hemos rediseñado la página para facilitar la comunicación, sencillamente porqué es difícil leer "en bilingüe" y especialmente porque es difícil mantener al día el contenido en dos idiomas.

PETICIÓN - Por favor dinos si crees que deberíamos tener dos listas de correo, una en cada idioma. Por ahora mantenemos sólo una, bilingüe, pero es posible tener dos listas.

2) Los perfiles están ahora accesibles a través del menu principal. Tenemos el pequeño problema de que no siempre aparece el menú del lado derecho de la página; si no ves el menú, hay un mensaje con "> > >", para que pinches y entonces el menú sí te aparece.

PETICIÓN - Por favor comúnicanos cualquier problema que tengas para ver las páginas, navegar por ellas, etc. Y también cualquier sugerencia para mejorar esto. ¡Necesitamos la ayuda de tod@s!

3) Se están formando dos grupitos de Diseñadores del Instituto, uno en cada idioma. OS INVITAMOS A PARTICIPAR: serían 1 o 2 horas de tu tiempo de pensamiento activo, dedicadas a este diseño con los demás en el grupo. GRACIAS - a l@s que han hecho este compromiso de co-diseñar esta nueva e interesante aventura.

4) Estamos empezando a buscar subvenciones para el "nodo" Ibérico del Instituto, y animamos a cualquiera a copiar este esfuerzo en su bio-región.

PORQUÉ - Aquí hemos identificado que sería ideal poder pagar los gastos de viaje de algunos de nuestros jóvenes, que de todas formas van a visitar proyectos de permacultura en esta zona, a cambio de que ellos:

- difundan la noticia del Instituto, y además

- hagan pequeños talleres para que la gente aprenda a editar wikis, y así

- ir recopilando perfiles.

También nos gustaría pagar los viajes a colegas cubanos que quieran visitar nuestros proyectos, para hacer la misma cosa.

5) Estamos experimentando con una nueva moneda (Los Permis) para valorar el trabajo que estamos haciendo para el beneficio común de la red de permacultor@s.

it is Rob Hopkins giving a video-conference on Transition Town Totnes

Rob's lecture was presented at the conference he was invited at (I

don´t know how many people were there, but say several hundreds) but in

addition to those people, many thousands more potentially have access

to that same presentation, forever, just by switching to a more

appropiate technology for this job.

He could stay at home and do this, and we can watch him 'live' and

learn from our homes too.

This is exactly the aim of the chaordic permaculture institute.

(I am in Madrid in order to speak at a Complementary Currencies

conference right now - not having worked out how to do the

videoconferencing yet - but as soon as I get a while I'll make a page

for Rob and post his contributions there)

I do not agree with the views of 'not flying' on ideological reasons as

part of some generalized 'post-peak culture' strategy, nor the

attempted guilt-trips to that effect - there are great logical

inconsitencies in the argument, as well as dubious forms of it being

presented, often.

We each have to decide our own strategies for where we think we are

most effective individually as permaculturists, and sometime that will

be getting our physical selves somewhere far, so personally for eg. I

do fly when it makes sense for me, but I also applaud Rob's use of his

personal no-flying politics to move this type of alternative vision of

conferences. It´s great!

I think all permies should see this video. Not only for the content

(the great work they´re doing in Totnes to move forward a sustainable

bioregion in an over-'developed' country - no easy feat!), but

especially for the form.

I would love to support any permaculture pioneer (that is, all of YOU)

who has something important to say like this to try and find a way to

make it as globally accessible as possible. We need each's minds in

this way, and all our other colleagues and the planet certainly needs

it too.

US-China Project Focuses Student Teams on Real World Problems

Students collaborate using STELLA

Students at the Vermont Commons School in Burlington, Vermont and their peers in Nanjing China make it look easy to collaborate on complex models of real world issues.

This year, four cross-cultural student teams used STELLA to examine urban sprawl, water quality, maple syrup production capacity, and rocket engine fueling and staging. While email and videoconferencing helped break distance and time zone barriers, STELLA provided teams with a universal language that permitted problem solving while highlighting cross-cultural perspectives.

About the US-China Project

The US-China Systems Science Learning Project is a three-year initiative that teams students in Burlington, Vermont with peers in Nanjing, China to create, design and test solutions to real world problems. Founded by educators at the Vermont Commons School and Nanjing Education Technology Center to ensure that students are learning how to innovate and graduating with solid problem solving skills and experience in international collaboration, the project relies heavily on STELLA, Systems Thinking software.
